چکیده
Abstract This paper investigates the lateral‐torsional buckling of built‐up cold‐formed steel beams featuring two or three component C‐ sigma‐sections arranged to have a closed loop. Several thicknesses each cross‐section with nominal yield stress values 450 MPa and 550 were tested obtain lateral strength data for range slenderness values. Complementary reference tests conducted on same sections braced laterally in‐plane section capacities, precluding effect buckling. Coupon also determine mechanical properties material. The test rig featured dual‐actuator set‐up, one actuator (applying vertical load) mounted trolley that was moved horizontally by second in response signal from transducer measuring displacement at mid‐length beam, thus ensuring loading throughout experiments. specialized end bearings allowing free flexural rotations warping, while restraining displacements twist rotations. describes results Particular attention is paid use parts enhance torsional rigidity thereby their capacity.

Thermal Buckling of Functionally Graded Beams
In this article, thermal stability of beams made of functionally graded material (FGM) is considered. The derivations of equations are based on the one-dimensional theory of elasticity. The material properties vary continuously through the thickness direction. Tanigawa's model for the variation of Poisson's ratio, the modulus of shear stress, and the coefcient of thermal expansion is considered...
متن کاملThermomechanical Buckling of Temperature- dependent FGM Beams
Functionally graded materials, as a branch of new materials, have attracted increasing attention in recent years. A survey in the literature reveals the existence of wealth investigations on analysis of functionally graded material beams. Among them, Kang and Lee [1] presented explicit expressions for deflection and rotation of an FGM cantilever beam subjected to an end moment. Considering the ...
متن کاملDiscontinuous Buckling of Wide Beams and Metabeams.
We uncover how nonlinearities dramatically alter the buckling of elastic beams. First, we show experimentally that sufficiently wide ordinary elastic beams and specifically designed metabeams-beams made from a mechanical metamaterial-exhibit discontinuous buckling, an unstable form of buckling where the postbuckling stiffness is negative. Then we use simulations to uncover the crucial role of n...

متن کاملBuckling Behaviors of Symmetric and Antisymmetric Functionally Graded Beams
The present study investigates buckling characteristics of both nonlinear symmetric power and sigmoid functionally graded (FG) beams. The volume fractions of metal and ceramic are assumed to be distributed through a beam thickness by the sigmoid-law distribution (S-FGM), and the symmetric power function (SP-FGM). These functions have smooth variation of properties across the boundary rather tha...
